Abstract:
Based on genetic resources found in house-gardens of Cluj-Napoca, the cultivation experiment was started with Papaver bracteatum Lindl. in 1980. Best germination of seeds was found in the second year after harvest at 24°C. The phenology of plant growth and development was registered and the thebain accumulation analysed. The highest thebain yield (6.62 kg/ha), was measured in roots or in dried capsules lacking seeds (4.32 kg/ha).
